Science Undergraduate Degrees Requirements – University Of Zimbabwe
In all the degree programmes, applicants should have:
- ‘O’ Level passes in English Language and Maths.
- Two ‘A’ Level passes in any of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Geography. One of the ‘A’ Level subjects has to be a practical Science such as Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
BSc Honours Biotechnology and Biochemistry with options in :
a) Biotechnology and Molecular Biology (HBCBMB)
b) Clinical Biochemistry and Toxicology (HBCCBT)
c) Genetics and Bioengineering (HBCGBE)
d) Immunology and Microbiology (HBCBIM)
e) Industrial and Environmental Microbiology
f) Plant Biochemistry and Medicinal Chemistry (HBCBPBMC)
Normal entry:
- "A" Level passes in Chemistry and Biology or their recognized equivalents
Special Entry :
- National Certificate: at first year
- Diploma: at 2nd year of the programme
- HND: at 2nd year and exempted of some other courses.
- A person who holds a BSc Degree with a major in an appropriate subject or an equivalent qualification and has passed that major subject in the upper second division or a higher division

BSc Honours Biological Sciences (BZHSC)
Normal Entry:
- At least 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Science subjects including Biology
- Pass at `O’ Level in Mathematics.
Special Entry:
- Diploma in Biological Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

BSc Honours Forestry Rangeland and Wildlife Ecology (HFRWE)
Normal Entry :
- At least 2 ‘A’ level passes in Science subjects including Biology
- A pass at `O’ Level in Mathematics
Special Entry:
- Diploma in Biological Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience

BSc Honours Biodiversity and Heritage Conservation (HBHC)
Normal Entry:
- At least 2 ‘A’ level passes in Science subjects including Biology
- A pass at `O’ Level in Mathematics.
Special Entry:
- Diploma in Biological Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years working experience.

BSc Honours Pollution and Environmental Chemistry (HPEC)
Normal entry:
- A pass at "A" Level in Chemistry and at least one other ‘A’ Level subject from Physics, Mathematics, Biology or their equivalents;
Special Entry:
- a Diploma OR its recognized equivalent qualification as approved by the University in an appropriate subject from a recognized institution AND at
least two years working experience in a relevant field (proof of employment
required)

BSc Honours Aquatic Science and Ecology (HASE)
Normal Entry:
- At least 2 ‘A’ level passes in Science subjects including Biology
- a pass at `O’ Level in Mathematics.
Special Entry;
- Diploma in Biological Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
Duration : 4 yrs
BSc Honours Forensic Science (HFSSC) With specialisations in either:
a) Forensic Biology and Forensic Biochemistry
b) Forensic Biology and Forensic Chemistry
c) Forensic Biochemistry and Forensic Chemistry
d) Forensic Physics and Forensic Chemistry
Passes at A Level in two of the following subjects or their recognised equivalents:
- Biology and Biochemistry Option → Biology and Chemistry
- Chemistry and Biology Option → Biology and Chemistry
- Chemistry and Biochemistry Option → Biology and Chemistry
- Physics and Chemistry Option → Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
a pass at O’ Level in Mathematics.
Special Entry:
- Diploma in Forensic Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

BSc Honours Industrial Chemistry (HICH)
Normal entry:
- passes at A Level in Chemistry and Mathematics, or their equivalents;
Special entry:
- a diploma or its recognised equivalent qualification and at least two years relevant working experience.

BSc Honours Pharmaceutical Chemistry (HPHC)
Normal entry:
- passes at A Level in Mathematics and Chemistry, or their
equivalents;
Special entry:
- a Diploma OR its recognized equivalent qualification as approved by the University in an appropriate subject from a recognized institution AND at
least two years working experience in a relevant field (proof of employment
required)

BSc Honours Geological Sciences (HGL)

BSc Honours Geographical Information Science and Earth Observation (HGISEO)
Normal entry:
- passes in at least two ‘A’ Level subjects, that includes Geography, Physics, Biology, Mathematics or their equivalents.
Special entry:
- a Diploma OR its recognized equivalent qualification as approved by the University in an appropriate subject from a recognized institution AND at least two years working experience in a relevant field (proof of employment required)

BSc Honours Geospatial Intelligence (HGISINT)
Normal entry:
- a good pass in ‘A’ Level Geography, Physics, Biology or Mathematics including in ‘O’ Level Mathematics.
Special entry:
- Applicants with either post “A” Level qualifications in a relevant area or with relevant and equivalent work experience may be admitted with the approval of Senate.

BSc Honours Mathematics and Computational Science (MCH)
- Mathematics at ‘A’ Level and at least one other subject at Advanced Level, or
their recognized equivalents.

BSc Honours Actuarial Science (HASC)
- A pass at ‘A’ Level in Mathematics with B and any one Advanced Level subject excluding General Paper.
Duration : 4 yrs
BSc Honours Financial Mathematics (HFM)
- Mathematics at ‘A’ Level and at least one other subject at Advanced Level, or
their recognized equivalents.
Duration : 4 yrs
BSc Honours Data Science and Systems (HDSC)
- A pass at ‘A’ Level in Mathematics with A or better and any one Advanced Level subject excluding General Paper.
Duration : 4 yrs
BSc Applied Statistics (HASTS)
- A pass at ‘A’Level in Mathematics/Statistics and any one Advanced Level subject excluding General Paper.

BSc Honours Nutrition and Dietetics (HND)
Normal Entry
- ‘A’ level passes in two subjects one of which must be Chemistry.
Special Entry :
- Diploma in Nutrition or Diploma Hospital Food Service Management.
Mature Entry :
- The candidate must be at least 25 years old and 2 years relevant work experience

BSc Honours Food Science and Technology (HFST)
Normal Entry:
- ‘A’ level passes in two subjects one of which must be Chemistry.
Special Entry :
- NC Science Technology, ND Food Science & HND Food Science

- "A" Level Physics and Mathematics

- A credit in the Basic Instruction Package for Meteorological Technicians (BIP-MetTech) and at least two (2) years relevant experience

BSc Honours Industrial Physics (HIPH)

- "A’ Level Physics and Mathematics

- Diploma in a relevant field

BSc Digital Disease Surveillance and Environmental Health (HDDSEH)

- At least 2 ‘A’ Level passes in Science subjects including Biology
- a pass at `O’ Level in Mathematics.
Special Entry
- Diploma in Biological Science or equivalent qualification plus a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

BSc Geography and Landscape Ecology (HGLE)
- a good pass in ‘A’ Level Geography, Physics, Biology or Mathematics including in ‘O’ Level Mathematics.
Special entry:

approval of Senate.
